People who live in cities undergo a lot of stress. Early morning from preparing food, boarding the kids to their school buses, commuting to office all are stressful work.

Effects of Stress: Stress will abuse our body (physical) or mental (feeling) or emotional (behavioral)
Physical abuse includes having pains like headache, back pain, heart pain, leg pain or having stomach related like constipation, diarrhea, stomach upset, gas. Heart or lungs related like heart pounding, breathlessness, and high blood pressure or increased sweating, tiredness, fatigue or sleeping problems, weight loss /gain or hair loss, skin problems, allergies or sex problems like Errectile dysfunction, early ejaculation and pain during sex.
Mental abuse includes feeling anxiety, restlessness, worry, irritation, depressed, anger or having confusion, mood swings, insecurity, negative feeling about others or experiencing job dissatisfaction, burnout, and lack of concentration or forgetting things.
Emotional abuses include addicted to smoking or drinking, taking drugs or social withdrawal and relationship problems, blaming or crying frequently

These in turn may lead to obesity/weight loss, blood pressure, diabetes and other health problems.

Causes of stress: The causes of stress can be grouped in to External or internal which is self induced. External  causes of stress includes

Professional/work related
Personal/family
Social related and
Environmental related.

Professional/work related: This includes workload in office, difficult boss or unproductive or non cooperative peers or subordinates, commuting distance/ difficulty in commuting, working in shifts.

Personnel: Some changes in life which can be positive like wedding, planned pregnancy for mother and new arrival news for elder kids, new job/ promotion, moving to a new place or home can cause stress. Other changes in life which can be negative like passing away of loved ones, going through a divorse or Family/business partition.

Environmental: Environmental causes like noise pollution, vehicular traffic around the locality, lighting disturbances etc,.

Social: Taking responsibility of housing community work or looking after a religious trust.

Family: This includes quarrel among spouse, teenager who can not cope with studies, a relative who stays in the family can cause stress.

Internal or self induced stress are caused by

Fear: Fear like speaking to a group of people or staying alone at night, or encountering a dog on the street
Negative Attitude: Having negative attitude towards others and systems in which we live. Expectations: Keeping high expectations about himself or children or peers which is not met.
Planning: Not planning/scheduling activities at home or office will lead to stress

Suppose one analyses his effects of stress on his body and figure out causes of stress, he can lead a healthy and happy life.

Recipe for Stress:

List the causes of stress in one’s life. Also note the effects of stress
Then following practice can reduce the level of stress

 Keep a positive attitude.
  Accept that there are events that you cannot control.
*   Be assertive instead of aggressive. "Assert" your feelings, opinions, or beliefs instead of becoming angry, defensive, or passive.
 Learn and practice relaxation techniques. Attend Yoga classes
 Exercise regularly. Your body can fight stress better when it is fit.
*  Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
*  Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs time to recover from stressful events.
Don't rely on alcohol or drugs to reduce stress.

Seek out social support.
Learn to manage your time more effectively
